home

i'm really looking forward to going home. "home"...one of those ominous words for me because it's not very clear cut... i still cringe when people ask me where i'm from or what my accent is because i have to decide how much to explain of my life. i think now i could say that belfast is feeling more like a home, but nigeria will always have that true home feeling... especially as long as my parents are there. sometimes i think that i have too much of an idealistic perspective of home though... just because i had this unique and very happy childhood. i know that every time i go back it will always be different. most of my friends are scattered round the world. i don't know many people besides family friends. i don't 'fit' as i know i'm not nigerian and yet i'm not really irish either. but, five years on... i still love going back. it's as if i can just be myself again with no pretenses. i guess that's why it still feels like my home.
